GROUP EXHIBITIONS

ARTIST'S STATEMENT

My paintings are an attempt to show an internal view of the world. I shape the forms of the earth, sky, trees, and water to create a place, but one that is a reflection or perspective of reality rather than its actual visual appearance. The feeling of a forest or a grouping of plants can be that of a tangle or of upward growth, reflecting the vitality of life.
Recently I´ve been drawn to thinking of wide-open spaces as I work, on this world and beyond it. They hold their own mystery and make us ponder the question of whether our surroundings are indifferent to us. The underlying nature of reality may be impossible to fully describe, but a canvas can be used as both a flat surface and an infinite space, with shape and color as the tools to describe experiences not expressible in words.
